Christmas came early for about 500 children at the Boys and Girls Club of Newark, New Jersey when R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and his Compound Foundation came to town on Wednesday, December 19th. Together with K.I.D.S. and a little help from New York Giant Deon Grant and fashionista Angela Simmons, Ne-Yo played Santa to every child there, posing for what seemed an endless amount of pictures and then sending them off with a toy, a hug and a great holiday memory. K.I.D.S. donors provided everything from baby bottles to bicycles.
When K.I.D.S. was asked to be the product partner on this leg of the Compound Foundation’s Giving Tour, it was a natural fit. Whether it’s children who are dealing with the challenges of foster care, facing financial difficulty, or coming back from a natural disaster like Hurricane Sandy, our mission is simple: we are there to provide new product like toys and clothing to help offer a little hope and happiness. K.I.D.S.’ good friend and supporter, Mayor Corey Booker, was as thrilled we were to meet this gracious Grammy-award winning superstar, who, it seemed, had all the time in the world for each and every person he came in contact with. Thanks, Ne-Yo, for the song you put in everyone’s hearts, the smiles you put on the children’s faces and a special shout-out to Danny Mendoza, founder of K.I.D.S. partner agency Together We Rise!, for the opportunity to be a part of this event!
