Letter from the Chairman

Dear Members of the K.I.D.S. Community:

As we enter the summer months, K.I.D.S. is looking ahead to creating new opportunities to fulfill our goals of helping children and families impacted by poverty and tragedy. We are also looking back to reflect on the tenure of Janice Weinman, who stepped down on June 1, 2012, after nine incredible years as president of our organization.

Janice's passion and dedication to making others aware of - and often inspired to be a part of - our mission to help children and families in distressful situations was instrumental in K.I.D.S. success and helping us to become one of America's top-rated charities. Between creating the Women In Industry Luncheon ("WIIL") and our year-end fund-raising Gala, which will be held this year on December 6th, Janice was a force in raising product and money for those who needed it most. I think I speak for everyone at K.I.D.S. in saying how much we will miss working with her. She made a difference in the lives of so many who will never know her personally and also for the people who called her a colleague and a friend.

Speaking of the WIIL luncheon, this year more than 400 women and men came out to support K.I.D.S. honorees, helping us raise nearly a quarter of a million dollars. This inspiring afternoon honored a group of dynamic women including Kathy Ireland, CEO and Chief Designer at kathy ireland Worldwide, Sandy Wax, President/General Manager of PBS's Sprout and K.I.D.S. own Sharon John, President of Stride Rite Children's Group. You can read more about it on page 4.

While we're on the theme of inspiration, I'd like to point out the recent events like the Operation Homefront Baby Shower in Fort Benning, Georgia, the Carter's distribution at the Atlanta Children's Shelter and the Mother's Day event at Newark Now in New Jersey. The partner agency stories we now regularly feature about how K.I.D.S. donations help the people who come through their doors. And of course, our Board members and tireless staff who are dedicated to making the world a little better for others. As Chairman of the Board, I'm looking forward to what other accomplishments lay ahead.

And that's where you come in. As the second half of the year unfolds, we hope that you are inspired as well to donate brand new merchandise, especially for our continuing Clothes4Kids campaign. Your donation could make the difference in a child's dignity, self-esteem and hope for the future.

Enjoy the summer and thanks, as always, for your continued support.
