Since 1985, K.I.D.S. has provided over one billion dollars worth of new products — clothing, shoes, toys, books and tools for learning — to nearly a thousand of agencies serving more than 67 million children living in distressed situations.
Who’s behind these numbers and the immeasurable impact that new, brand name products have on these children? It’s business people and their companies in the children’s products industries who want to make a difference in the lives of kids here and abroad. They know how children living in poverty, or dealing with an illness or natural disaster, need to know that someone cares.
The reasons for donating new products are as varied as the hundreds of companies that donate tens of millions of dollars in products and contributions each year.
It’s a natural and generous response to want to reach out to others when a company has been blessed by the benefits of successful work and good fortune.
Many companies encourage their employees to get involved in their communities, whether it’s across the street or around the globe.
How They Give
Product manufacturing and retail donor companies want to associate their organization’s mission and brand with the children’s issues addressed and solutions provided by K.I.D.S. Many retail and catalog companies also create marketing, advertising and merchandizing programs to get their customers involved in their good work.
How They Give
Excess inventory, returned consignments and discontinued product lines all find a new life, and value, when a child receives a new winter coat or a pair of shoes to wear to school.
How They Give
Doing “well” also allows companies to do “good.” That’s why many companies realize the additional benefits of tax incentives that come from generous contributions of goods and cash donations.
