Victims of Natural Disasters

For more than 25 years, K.I.D.S. has been at the forefront of responding to major natural disasters, acting quickly and directly to distribute much need products to suffering families. While K.I.D.S. distributes new merchandise year round to help children and families living in poverty, it draws heavily on the generosity and concern of retailers, manufacturers and licensees whenever a major disaster occurs.

Our donations of new product reach throughout the country and around the globe. In response to the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti, K.I.D.S. provided over $16 million in desperately needed new product to the survivors. K.I.D.S. recently played an instrumental role in helping the people of Japan recover from the massive earthquake and tsunami that struck their country in March 2011 by donating over $3 million worth of urgently needed items, including water, vitamins, blankets, undergarments, baby items and apparel.

Here at home, K.I.D.S. has been a tremendous help to disaster victims by donating nearly $800,000 worth of merchandise to the Midwestern and Southern communities that were struck by devastating storms and tornadoes in May 2011. In the town of Joplin alone, KIDS donated $182,000 worth of school supplies and $10,000 worth of underwear, children’s quilts, apparel and socks to help disaster victims get back on their feet.
