Disaster Relief

Collecting Basic Essentials after a Natural Disaster

If you are interested in working to collect donations of desperately needed new products, the process follows these simple steps:

  1. Collect basic necessities: Shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, tissues, baby wipes, diapers, combs, and first aid kits. The items must be brand new and small sized or packaged for individual use.

  2. Collect items for a designated period of time and send them to K.I.D.S.: Once you’ve completed the collection, please contact Dennie Hughes at 212-279-5493 ext. 208 or dhughes@kidsdonations.org; she will provide you with our UPS account number and the items will be sent here to our office in New York.

  3. K.I.D.S. will assign the items to a Partner Agency: We will sort and ship the items to our Partner Agencies affected by the natural disaster.

About Used Products:

K.I.D.S. does not accept donations of any used products; we were founded to take advantage of the excess new products that remain unsold in the various industries that make children’s apparel, books and media, toys and juvenile product. Sending children and families in distress new products lifts their spirits, gives them hope that their lives could return to normal and lets them know that someone cared enough to give them something new and valuable. If you have gently used but still useful products, please contact The Salvation Army or Goodwill Industries.
