Providing new clothing for a homeless child. Putting an abused youngster back on her feet. Providing books and educational resources to motivate a low-income student challenged by low literacy. Cheering up a child in the hospital with a new teddy bear. Donating clothing, shoes and baby supplies to victims of natural disasters. People give to K.I.D.S. to help us do all this and more.
Over the past 26 years, K.I.D.S. has distributed over $1 billion of new products to 67 million kids in need. And we do this with overhead expenses of only 2.5%, so 97.5% of funds received go directly to those we serve. Our efficiency and effectiveness has earned K.I.D.S. the highest rating of four stars from Charity Navigator for the last four years and a ranking by Forbes as the sixth most efficient of the 200 largest charities in the U.S.
Yet, even with minimal overhead, funds are needed to:
- ship product around the country and world
- cover expenses associated with research and outreach
- pay for limited administrative costs
Our donors give because they know that their donation to K.I.D.S. leads to an amazing return on investment. For every dollar we receive from foundations, individuals, companies and local charities, we deliver a minimum of $10 worth of donated products to children and families in need.
