CASH = CLOTHES (AND MORE) 4 KIDS
The mission of K.I.D.S. is to provide new product – clothing, books, toys, baby supplies and more – to children who are ill, living in poverty, or are victims of natural disasters in order to improve the lives of those children and their families. K.I.D.S solicits product donations from over 1,000 manufacturers and retailers in the children’s business. We then distribute the donated items to kids in need through local social service agencies around the country who integrate the donations into their program delivery. 85% of our donations are distributed to agencies in the U.S. and the remaining 15% to countries abroad.
Because of K.I.D.S.’ strong network of product donors, we are able to provide $10 worth of product for every dollar donated.
Financial donations provide funds needed to run the operations of the organization, including primarily costs to get product to the people who need it. While K.I.D.S. operates at a 2.5% overhead rate, rising expenses of shipping, record keeping and agency outreach are factors that have become increasingly more challenging.
Cash donations have a tangible impact on K.I.D.S.’ ability to provide essential items to a needy child, particularly since donations are matched ten times in product.
