Private and Family Foundations provide funding that has immediate and meaningful impact on programs that reflect their values and priorities. For years, K.I.D.S. has received funds from family foundations for specific program areas such as for children with permanent physical handicaps whose lives are brightened by toys or games, or for prison inmates who receive books of fiction and biography to expand their horizons. For instance, the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation, a long-term K.I.D.S. donor, generously provided a $50,000 grant this year to enable K.I.D.S. to send more than $500,000 worth of new clothing, toys, books, baby products and more to ten agencies in Central Florida dealing with the overwhelming issue of homelessness.

Community Foundations provide funding so K.I.D.S. can match their monetary donation 10:1 with products distributed to social services agencies in their communities. For example, for many years the Grand Rapids Community Foundation has provided funds to K.I.D.S. so that more than $100,000 worth of new clothing, shoes, toys and books can be sent to In the Image, a not-for-profit agency that helps many thousand children in Western Michigan receive those items they might normally go without.

Trade Foundations provide funding for national children’s initiatives. ABC Kids Expo (All Baby & Child) has given K.ID.S. a generous yearly grant between $105,000 - $150,000, which has enabled K.I.D.S. to distribute $1.25 million in juvenile products annually to military bases around the country to ensure that families with loved ones fighting for our security are taken care of.
