Q. Most of your donations come from donated products. Why do you need financial donations as well?
A. Financial donations make up almost $2 million of our total $102 million in contributions each year. Financial donations help us with:
- The cost of picking up and transporting products from donors and distributing products to nearly a thousand social service agencies daily as well as serving immediate and direct needs during natural disasters.
- Communications and marketing to ensure our stakeholders have the information they need (e.g., website, marketing materials, etc.).
- Travel costs to visit distribution sites and recipients of the product.
- Staff and administrative costs to help run these programs. Our administrative costs are less than 2.5% of the value of our donated goods and financial donations, an exceptionally low margin for a charitable organization.
Q. What kind of tax deduction can I realize from my monetary donations?
A. K.I.D.S is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Our tax ID is 13-3300271. K.I.D.S. does not dispense tax advice and a company should consult its tax advisor for professional guidance, but for many companies and individuals financial gifts to K.I.D.S. may offer a tax benefit.
Q. Will K.I.D.S. send me a confirmation of my financial donation for tax purposes?
A. Yes, within two weeks. The document will also identify what the funds are being used for.
Q. Can we make staggered or deferred contributions?
A. While we welcome contributions over any period, once a commitment to donate has been made we require full payment of that specific donation to expedite our planning and budgeting.
Q. Can I contribute via the K.I.D.S. web site?

Q. Can I donate to K.I.D.S. on my mobile phone?
A. Yes. Text “CASH4KIDS2” to 85944 to donate $10 to K.I.D.S. You will immediately receive a confirmation text. Please reply “YES” to confirm your donation, which will be added to your phone bill.
